Information was published in today’s issue of the Public Procurement Bulletin stating that a winner has been announced for the reconstruction of the Budapest City Hall, located at 9–11 Városház Street in District V (named after the building itself). The winning bidder is Build It Mérnökiroda Zrt. According to the official document, the Budapest Municipality will place occasional orders by December 31, 2025, up to 70% of the total contract value (net ~HUF 661 million) from the full net budget of approximately HUF 945 million + VAT, based on the tasks defined in the TL (technical description – ed.).
The building complex, which houses both the Mayor’s Office and the Budapest City Assembly, has a colorful history: it was originally built (between 1716 and 1727) to accommodate soldiers wounded in campaigns against the Turks, earning it the name “Invalidus House.” Later, during the reign of Joseph II, it served as a residence for soldiers, and finally, at the end of the 19th century, the city administration moved within its walls.
